Nov. 02, 2020, Joe Antonini writes:

Oscar and Emmy nominees abound, big-name Hollywood stars aplenty, these are the characters who have leaped farthest from Sorkin's pages.

Aaron Sorkin is one of the most exciting screenwriters and directors in Hollywood. He has worked in political thrillers, sports stories, and military escapades. What's most notably remarkable about his work is that much of what you see on screen is people talking. Forget explosions, magic, and sex, when it comes to Sorkin, people talking is more than enough entertainment.

This list celebrates the very best of those people. Often within ensemble casts, these individuals - some based on real-life figures, some creations of Sorkin's mind - stand out in their immediate wit and eventual depth. Oscar and Emmy nominees abound, big-name Hollywood stars aplenty, these are the characters who have leaped farthest from Sorkin's pages.

Here are Sorkin's top 10 characters as ranked by ScreenRant.com

2021 Oscars - What to expect: 10 Nomination Predictions for Best Picture

With the beginning of every New Year comes much thought, speculation and anticipation about the year’s upcoming Academy Awards nominations. Expectations and forecasts spin around as film lovers around the world are curious which films will be in the running! Theatres and cinemas around the globe have been locked down for most of 2020 and beyond, so very few of the contending films actually had Box Office exposure, if any sort of theatrical release whatsoever. However, most of the predicted contending films have been, or soon will be, aired on streaming sites like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Disney Plus and some are even streaming for free on YouTube. Additional “predicted to be nominated” films, yet to be released, (Nomadland, Minari and The Father - all scheduled for release in February) may or may not hit the theatres and the accessibility to pre-watch these “predicted to be nominated” Best Pictures will certainly be different for audiences than in previous years. Trial of the Chicago 7 Deserves the WIN!

Only NINE days until the Oscars and I finally got 'round to watching the film nominated for Best Picture which I’ve most wanted to see, of all the nine nominees !  The Trial of the Chicago 7 .  Excellent film, and if you haven’t seen it yet, jump onto Netflix , grab some popcorn and get ready for two hours of an extremely well-made political, drama, thriller. This film has been in the works for several years, with development of the script beginning as far back as 2006 when Steven Spielberg was onboard as producer. But the 2007 Writers Guild of America strike kept the film at bay for some time. Development of the script ramped up and down many times from 2006-2018, during which time there have been a lot of changes to cast, producers and directors including the exit of Paul Greengrass, Ben Stiller, Seth Rogen, Will Smith and Steven Spielberg - in the end writer, Aaron Sorkin took on the role of director and kicked some ass! With heavy hitting stars like Academy Award winners
